As for the design , Nokia N79 is styled based on other N-Series devices so as you might notice it looks like most N-Series devices.As we earlier wrote , in the sales package you'll find two spare Xpress-on smart covers and thanks to a contact pad found on the N79’s body, it will know which one of them is on and will adjust the menu theme to match the back cover.You can buy the N79 with a large range of smart covers that can be Light Sea Blue, Espresso Brown, Olive Green, White and Coral Red.

The phone has the dimensions of 110x49x15 mm and it weights 97 grams. Like most N-Series device the build quality is pretty good and there's nothing to complain about here.

On the front the phone has a classical plastic keypad and right above the display is a VGA camera.On the left-side you can find the memory expansion slot and a microUSB slot,a 2mm socker for the charger and on the opposite side are the volume rocker and dedicated camera button, with a couple of stereo-speakers.

The handset has a 2.4 inch QVGA (240x320 pixels) display , that can show up to 16 million colors. The display has a bright picture with nice colors and remains visible even in direct sun light.

The N79 has a plastic keypad that's easy to use , with responsive buttons that are lit in white which makes them visible in almost any enviroment.The keypad also features a NavyWheel, which is a touch-sensitive pad that allows paging through lists by sweeping your finger around the navigation button.The backlighting of the keypad is managed by an ambient light sensor.
The keys on the Nokia N79 are wide, evenly spaced, and well-lit. Tactile feedback was present, as was a complete set of Nokia hotkeys, including a special key for the multimedia menu.

Let's talk a liitle about the battery , the handset is fitted with a 1200 mAh Li-Ion battery (BL-6F) that can last up to 5.5 hours of talk time and 372 hours of standby.Music time - up to 30 hours, video recording time (top resolution and quality settings) - up to 280 minutes, video playback time - up to 320 minutes.As for the memory , the device has 120 Mb of RAM , but the user will have only around 62 Mb of free memory.The phone comes with a 4 Gb card in the sales package and the phone can handle cards as high as 4 Gb.

The phone has USB connectivity , Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi.In the USB connection you can pick 3 connection modes ( Data Transfer (Mass Storage USB) , PC Suite , Image Print ), as for the bluetooth connection the phone supports all the major profiles and the speed is around 100 Kb/s.
The phone also has Wi-Fi support , and the handset supports all security standards.Nokia has fitted the N79 with a Wi-Fi wizard that will keep looking for enabled networks in the background mode and connect into them.

Camera

The phone has a 5 Megapixel CMOS camera which is pretty similar to the one from Nokia N85 and some other Nokia phones. At the back, the camera lens is safely hidden behind a slide-down cover. The N79 has a two-section LED flash that can make some difference when taking a picture from 1-2 meters away.

Nokia N79 has FM radio with RDS , and with 4 Gb of memory there is a lot of space for all your favorites songs , the produces claims that the N96 can deliver up to 12 hours of music.The sound quality is the same as any other Nokia S60 handset and it can easily be a replacement for a music player. The music player can also be used to toggle the FM transmitter feature. Otherwise, sounds will come out from either the headphone port, stereo speakers, or Bluetooth headphones. Being stereo, sound quality turned out great on speakers.

The Nokia N79 is the first phone to feature a full N-Gage client ,the handset comes with 15 Try&Buy games, although you can pick one of them and get a full version free of charge using the activation code the N79 ships with.

The phone will be available at the beginning of 2009 for a price of around 350 Euro , and at this price combined with the features GPS, WiFi, superior music quality, plus longer battery times like that the phone has no direct competition. The Nokia N79 is a solid phone for both work and play.
All in all, the Nokia N79 is one of the best phone in it’s category, and everyone looking for this type of phone should keep this phone in mind.
