The HTC Touch Diamond has a unique design and doesn't resemble any other previous device from HTC.The design may resemble the Nokia Prism series a little bit.The casing is made out of glossy plastic. The complex edgy surface of the rear, isn't just a visual effect , the device really has numerous facets and edges on the phone. The build quality is very good , it felt like a solid and well build device. The front side is divided into two sections , one holding the display and a smaller one with the navigation cluster. The screen sits underneath a layer of glass , but a downside is that it will easily cover with finger prints , but of course this a common problem for all touch screen devices.

The HTC Touch Diamond has a small and compact size , and there isn't any comparison with any other communicator. The Diamond is also relatively light, but considering its size, this weight seems quite unusual. The Diamond will easily fit into any pocket or bag.

The HTC Touch Diamond is the first ever mobile device to have a VGA(640x480 pixels) resolution display with 65 000 colors. The display has a diagonal of 2.8-inch and this combined with the VGA resolution give you a picture quality that's better than any other device. You may choose the brightness for the display manually but the handset an ambient light sensor that will adjust the brightness of the automatically. As you know the display is made as a touch screen and we can say that it's really responsive the device managing to pick up even the smallest touch. Another positive about the Diamond is that managing it with the stylus is no longer a pain like it was the case with the HTC Touch Cruise.

As you previously said the front face is composed of the screen and the navigation cluster , and above the display there is a VGA camera for videoconferencing. The right side has no controls , just the writing "4 Gb Internal Storage".The left side has the volume rocker , and has writing of "HTC Innovation".The upper part houses the power button and the loudspeaker , as for the bottom , the only thing that we can find here is HTC's trademark ExtUSB socket, that accepts chargers, data cables and headsets. The back side has only the 3.2 megapixel camera. The stylus is located at the place where the right-hand side splices with the back cover and the Diamond's SIM is placed next to the battery at the base of the casing.

The HTC Touch Diamond has just a 900 mAh Li-Ion battery , and as the manufacturer claims the battery will last for 5.5 hours of talk time (GSM) and 285 hours of standby. But in real life , these figures will be even lower , so the Diamond will probably last for a day before you have to recharge it again.
